Paul Bunyan’s Cook Shanty in Minocqua has been a tradition in this Northern Wisconsin town since 1961. Paul and Babe look down from their lofty perch on a 36ft high sign welcoming you into our restaurant, gift shop and bakery. Enter through the front door into the style and atmosphere of the ole time lumberjack cook shanties which dotted the Northwoods in the late 1800′s.
Reservations are never needed, even for large groups, so load everyone in the car and head on over. Two dining rooms are almost big enough to fit Paul himself, and we’re sure to find room for large and smaller groups alike. Original antiques line the walls throughout the log beam building. Historical logging photos show an era long past but not forgotten.
We serve the family style, all-you-can-eat meals which made us popular among tourists and locals. The Cook Shanty also offers individual platters if that is your preference. Take home freshly made homemade cookies, breads and sugar donuts from the in-house bakery. And peruse the gift shop for souvenirs, novelty gifts, books, toys, housewares and apparel.
Visitors have loved eating here for more than 50 years, and with its hometown charm, logging camp decor, and homemade comfort foods, Paul Bunyan’s Cook Shanty is sure to become a tradition with your family.
